Position Summary: Various positions available based on qualifications.

The Infant/Toddler teacher is responsible for the day-to-day care of Infants in the classroom.  The teacher plans creative, educational, fun activities, as well as addresses their basic needs.

The Childcare Teacher-Preschool is responsible for the day-to-day care of children ages 2 –5 years in the classroom, planning creative, educational, fun activities for them as well as addresses their basic needs. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

·         Engages parents, provides nurturing, and comfort to children.

·         Creates and implements weekly lesson plans for Infants.

·         Ensures cleanliness, proper arrangement, organization and stimulation in indoor/outdoor play areas.

·         Writes daily reports to parents detailing sleeping, eating and diapering activities for the day.

·         Ensures that parents sign their children in and out of childcare using the form provided.

·         Tracks inventory of Infant age appropriate toys and educational materials and informs the Director when supplies are low.

·         Assists in the sorting, storage and distribution of children’s program donations.

·         Participates in relationship-based practice and reflective supervision.

·         Attends and participates in weekly staff meeting and trainings appropriate to this position.

·         Enroll in the Maryland State Child Care Credentialing Program, complete 12 hours of continuing education a year following the state guidelines and maintain CPR/First Aid certification.

Skills:

Common Requirements/Qualifications:
Must be 20 years old or older.
Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
Ability to respond quickly to children who may be in danger of getting hurt, in the
classroom and on the playground.
Knowledgeable about the impact trauma on child development, behavior and families.
Ability to pass a criminal background check.

 

Infant/Toddler Experience/Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required, some college preferred.
90-hour Early Childhood Education certificate and 45-hour Infant/Toddler certificate
required.
One (1) year experience working with infants and toddlers.

 

Preschool Experience/Requirements:
Associates degree in Early Childhood Education or related major preferred; 90-hour
Early Childhood Education certificate required.
Must have one (1) year experience working in the childcare field.
