Position Summary:  The Emergency Assistance Coordinator provides access to material and financial assistance needed to stave off emergency situations that have arisen due to intimate partner and sexual violence victimization.  These emergencies may include imminent eviction, transportation and relocation for safety, food insecurity, etc.  The Coordinator works directly with clients in a short-term intervention model for services. The House of Ruth Maryland (HRM) is proud to provide access to crisis diversion services so that victims and their children can flee safely without fear of harm. The Coordinator works with victims and survivors to complete enrollment, safety planning, and coordinate/schedule access to key services, works collaboratively across the Survivor Engagement and Stability Services teams to responsibly allocate resources to clients in need, and reviews data quality reports and leads Victim Coordinated Entry Case Reviews to ensure that all data and regulatory requirements are met. As a member of the Survivor Engagement team, the Coordinator takes regular shifts on the 24/7 Hotline and Chatline, ensuring that every contact – both victims and community members supporting victims - is offered the support, information, referral, crisis intervention counseling, and safety planning consistent with HRM standards. The Coordinator is a skilled professional with excellent administrative and customer service skills. They are responsible for timely and effective communication with clients and colleagues to streamline the delivery of life-saving services to the people HRM serves.

 

 

Standard Schedule: This position is a full time member of the Survivor Engagement team, and is considered an essential staff position. Standard work schedule is Monday-Friday with 60% of the work expected to occur on site in Baltimore City.  Survivor Engagement staff are expected to be flexible, with up to 40% of adjustment from regular work schedules needed at time to cover essential crisis services. This work may be on site or through remote technology. The Coordinator will be available to work one weekend day per month to provide access to essential services to clients unavailable during traditional operating hours. 


Skills:

Experience/ Requirements:

·        Associates degree in any relevant field or 2 years’ experience in administrative or victim-centered services.

·        At least one year of experience in financial or detailed administrative work (organizing scheduling, managing travel or meeting arrangements, preparing reports, etc.)

·        Experience handling money or material goods distribution.

·        Formal or informal experience involving the coordination of people toward a common goal.

·        Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy in work.

·        Base knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of intimate partner violence.

·        Demonstrated ability to use critical thinking skills in high-stress situations.  

·        Demonstrated ability to make decisions that de-escalate conflict and/or resolve a crisis effectively.

·        Experience working with individuals of diverse ethnic, socioeconomic, religious, and other identity backgrounds.

·        Excellent oral and written interpersonal skills with a strong ability to relate to a diverse range of individuals including victims, children, donors, business leaders, human service providers. Particular emphasis on communication over electronic communication.

·        Demonstrated ability to work independently and juggle multiple competing tasks and timelines.

·        Oral fluency in English and Spanish highly preferred.

·        Knowledge or ability to learn database management systems.

·        Must pass Criminal Background Check.
