ENGINEERING MANAGER

The Harris Products Group | Mason, OH

Are you an innovative leader who thrives in project ownership, research and development, and problem resolution?  Do you excel in analyzing processes and generating feedback to improve quality and efficiency?  If so, we’d like you to lead our Engineering team.

Position overview:

In this role, you will lead Process Engineering, R&D Engineering team, and Global Corporate Projects in developing specifications and process improvements for new and existing products manufactured/procured domestically and internationally. Oversee implementation and maintenance of all aspects of the EH&S systems, including ISO 14001 environment management system, staffing, and training. The position requires technical competence in EH&S, metals and wire fabrication, process and discrete manufacturing, and continuous improvement. You will use proven leadership skills to build strong teams that take ownership of projects and problems to get them resolved. The position works with Safety, Quality, Operations, Marketing, Technical Sales, Purchasing, Maintenance, Productions, and Distribution departments in the company, and requires self-direction, innovative leadership and the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively. This position is critical for achieving customer service, plant efficiency, and inventory objectives.

Qualified candidates must be goal-oriented and possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline such as Metallurgy, Chemical, Industrial or Mechanical and minimum of 10 years related experience in manufacturing environment; two years in leadership role

  • Excellent process troubleshooting skills

  • Proficient in Solid Works and/or Auto Cad

  • Experience introducing and implementing Lean tool use, selection, and applications in a manufacturing environment; Six Sigma Green Belt certification or higher, preferred

  • Excellent computer skills, including strong proficiency with MS Office programs, experience with SAP, and Mini tab

  • Effective communication skills with experience presenting information across all levels of personnel

  • Preferred: Strength in forecasting operating costs, project savings, and preparing budget requests

  • Preferred: Strategic dexterity to confer cross-functionally to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products as well as assuring Stage Gate process is followed

  • Preferred: Ability to research and write technical data for use in manuals, procedures, specifications and capital requests

  • Solid project management skills with ability to simultaneously and timely execute multiple assignments of varying scope to ensure smooth work flow, preferred

  • Practical problem solving ability and experience dealing with multiple variables where limited standardization exists, also preferred.

  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills, including ability to conduct DOE, Measurement System Analysis and FMEA’s, preferred.
