House of Ruth Maryland is one of the nation’s leading intimate partner violence centers, helping thousands of battered women and their children find the safety and security that so many of us take for granted.
Intimate partner violence can happen to anyone regardless of race, age, sexual orientation, religion, ability or gender, and can take many forms, including physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional, economic, and psychological abuse.
It impacts individuals, families, workplaces, and communities. Since intimate partner violence is framed within the global issue of violence against women, it is shaped and supported by societal, familial, and cultural norms and is complicated by the intersection of other cultural oppressions.
The Infant and Toddler Aide assists the Senior Staff. She supervises and insures the safety and well being of the children at all times. The Aide may temporarily assume responsibilities of the senior staff person in her absence.
Qualifications: Must have their high school diploma, GED equivalency or transcript showing that they earned at least 6 college credits and have completed 30 clock hours of continuing education units (CEUs) in Family, Staff and Community Communications. Knowledgeable about the impact of domestic violence and trauma on child development and behavior, and on children’s families. Must be able to lift 20lbs. and to get down onto the floor with children. Must be able to pass a criminal background and criminal justice information (fingerprinting) check. This position is 3 nights a week until 9pm.
