Description:

This leadership role is an essential part of the campus administrative team and will work in concert with the Director of Operations to facilitate operational effectiveness and efficiency by ensuring the safety, security, maintenance and functionality of the school's buildings, plant and assets. This role will be required to work between sites including 13500 Layhill Road (primary location) along with multiple residential sites on the perimeter of the campus.

 

The successful candidate will lead a team of internal and external resources to keep a 45-acre independent private school campus operating in a safe and functional manner, addressing typical facility issues, such as building and appliance maintenance, HVAC support, plumbing and security needs along landscaping management.  These support activities will also cover 17 off-campus houses that are within immediate vicinity of the campus.

 

While this role is a hands-on facility management position, it will also have management responsibility of a 3-4 person team along with support vendors to subsidize resource needs across the campus. 

Skills:

 

·         Support the development and communication of Policies and Procedure as relevant to Facilities Management.

·         Participate in various committee meetings as required.

·         Provide relevant and compliant advice to facilities stakeholders.

·         Manage building projects for the primary campus along with residential sites on the perimeter of the campus.

·         Support the Director of Operations in the operational management of the campus through project and stakeholder management methodologies.

·         Obtain quotes and coordinate contractors for numerous sites.

·         Work closely with Operational Leadership Team to support a fully functional facility.

·         Manage the coordination of maintenance and project activities.

·         Ensure the smooth operation of all building functions.

·         Assist with solving building service related problems

·         Liaise with maintenance contractors, to maintain all functions of the building including: Gardens, Communications, Hydraulics, Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Protection, Security, Medical gases, Lift, Structural, Waste streams, Cleaning, Equipment, Laboratory, Liquid Nitrogen & Office Equipment.

 

·         Guide the management of facility projects – repairs, maintenance, minor and major works.

·         Oversee the organizations Facilities Asset program.

  • Provide on-call support for the Facilities Team to address after hours/emergency needs

·         Lead in the management of ALL emergency response situations, including the use of Monitor Fire Panel, EWIS (Early warning information system) and other systems.

·         Co-ordinate all fire protection programs, including drills and debriefs.

·         Monitor and utilize the Building Security System.

·         Advise staff on building security and processes.

·         Monitor and maintain the TMS (Trouble Monitoring System).

·         Support the afterhours building emergency response team.
