What You Will Do

Reporting to the Head of Lower School - Elementary, the Music Teacher would be responsible for preparing and presenting a vibrant music program for children, from toddlers through grade 5.  There may be some interaction with infant classes, as well. This is a full-time, exempt faculty position.

  • Participate enthusiastically in community engagement and family programming, such as Back to Barrie Night, Open Houses, student presentations, and other school functions, held within or outside regular school hours;

  • Prepare newsletters each month to highlight content to families

  • Prepare comments for report cards twice a year

  • Support the Lower School program as needed


Skills:

What We Seek:

We seek candidates who possess the following:

  • An undergraduate degree in Music; master’s preferred.

  • Experience with Orff Schulwerk method of Music instruction

  • At least 3 years teaching experience in a school setting is preferred

  • Current OCC 90-Hour Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Infant and toddler and Preschool Credentials preferred; or work to attain OCC credential to teach toddler and K students

  • Familiarity with Blackbaud and/or Transparent Classroom is preferred

  • Ability to be flexible with scheduling and location of classroom spaces
