The Therapist provides direct therapeutic services to victims of intimate partner violence on an ongoing basis, as well as in crises. The Therapist is also responsible for participating in a team approach among staff to address the trauma, mental health and other clinical issues clients may present.

In collaboration with the Therapist Site-Lead, the Therapist ensures that the goals, objectives, and work effort of the staff at these sites are consistent with the mission of the House of Ruth Maryland and advances the agency and program’s strategic goals and objectives. This position is responsible for maintaining program integrity within the agency and in the community.

Primary Responsibilities: 

• Provides one-on-one counseling for adult victims and child witnesses of intimate partner violence and their families, in crisis and on an ongoing basis, in person and through our telehealth platform.
• Provides comprehensive bio-psycho-social assessments for victims of intimate partner violence.
• Facilitates groups that may include parenting support and education, and support groups for adults and children.
• Participates in Clinical Services staff meetings and case review.
• Participates in regularly scheduled supervision with Site-Lead.
• Participates in individual case review and clinical supervision with the department’s Clinical Supervisor.
• Takes responsibility for assuring service is client-focused, culturally and linguistically competent and sensitive, strength based, and built on a foundation of sound clinical theory and trauma informed best practices.
• Ensures the collection and integrity of client/service data.
• Provides information, stories and data to assist with grant proposals and reports.
• Suggests opportunities to use interns and volunteers, trains, supervises, and provides support.

·         Establishes service linkage agreements to increase the number of clients served, and to provide services that are more comprehensive to clients.

·         Makes recommendations to Therapist Site-Lead for service adaptation based on best practices established by research in the field.

Authority:

• Plans schedule of therapeutic appointments within established timeframes.
• Represent the program and agency with area service providers.

Standard Schedule: 

This position is a full time position (40 hr/wk) spread out over 4 or 5 days a week, including at a minimum, 2 evenings a week. Approximately 75% of the work will occur at one of our counseling offices in Prince George’s or Montgomery Counties, with the remaining 25% of the time at one of HRM’s counseling sites, a community partner’s site or through off-site telehealth.  Schedules may also change with the changing needs of our clients.

Qualifications:

• Masters level Social Worker, LCSW-C or Professional Counselor, LCPC 
• Four (4) years related experience.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledgeable about therapeutic interventions with victims of trauma, their children, and family systems.
• Knowledgeable about the dynamics of intimate partner violence.  
• Demonstrates competence with computer systems including MS Word, Outlook and agency-wide databases.
• Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and collaboratively with peers and community partners.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check.
• Experience providing telehealth services preferred.
• Ability to speak Spanish preferred.
