The Training Institute Manager oversees the efforts of the Training Institute team and ensures the quality of its services. This position maximizes the Training Institute’s resources in order to:

 

·         Best meet the educational needs of the community,

·         Create professional development opportunities that are responsive to House of Ruth Maryland staff,

·         Develop a package of technical assistance products that highlight field best practices and serve as a social enterprise for the organization.  

 

In consultation with the Director of Training & Education, the Manager establishes standards of practice and ensures that the goals, objectives, and work effort of the program are consistent with the mission of the House of Ruth Maryland, advance the agency and program’s strategic goals and objectives, and are accurately captured in the agency’s database.  The Manager is responsible for maintaining program integrity within the agency and in the community. 

 

This position is part of the agency’s intimate partner violence education and prevention initiatives.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

  • Collects and analyzes data to improve the planning and delivery of content
  • Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of the program’s record keeping system including shared calendars, invoice issuing and payment, and the data entry of services provided and their accompanying evaluations
  • Suggests and, upon approval, maintains policies and procedures that optimize the effort of the Training Institute and supports the safety and development of program staff
  • Communicates information through regular department meetings, one-on-one supervision meetings, performance evaluations, and interpersonal communication
  • Develops and maintains a program culture that emphasizes quality, encourages continuous improvement and is aligned with the agency’s Culture Statement
  • Approves scheduling of external presentations and negotiates fees
  • Informs annual training schedule and revenue targets
  • Establishes pricing plans and payment options for various training products
  • Informs and assists in the execution of a marketing plan for trainings
  • Writes grant proposals and submits timely grant reports
  • Develops and evaluates trainers based on objective metrics
  • With Director approval, develops and implements Memorandums of Understanding with partnering agencies
  • Assists in training content development and, when necessary, delivery
  • Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with community agencies and organizations
  • Participates in the Leadership Team and appropriately shares information with program staff
  • Covers a bi-weekly shift on the agency’s 24-hour hotline
  • Supervises Training Institute staff, student interns and volunteers
  • Assists in administrative tasks of program


Skills:

Experience/Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business management, human services or relevant field. Masters’ degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of responsible leadership experience supervising paid staff
  • Specialized training in human resource, supervision or management is preferred
  • Management experience in a team-oriented workplace preferred
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrates competence with computer systems including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail and an agency-wide database, Efforts to Outcomes Software
  • Some evening and weekend hours along with travel are required for this position
  •  Demonstrated ability to provide the leadership that enables staff to consistently meet goals
  •  Ability to pass a criminal background check
  •  Ability to understand intimate partner violence and how it affects the client population
