MACHINE OPERATORS - Gainesville, GA

The Harris Products Group 

 HOURS: 

1st Shift - 7 AM to 3:30 PM

2nd Shift - 3 PM to 11:30 PM

3rd Shift - 10:30 PM to 7 AM

Position Overview:

Responsible for the operation of assigned machining equipment to produce quality parts in accordance with blueprint and procedural specifications.  Maintains quality of machined parts by performing quality checks and completes required documentation.  Position requires a high regard for safety at all times.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Works safely and supports safety within their team across the organization – as required. Participates in safety training and demonstrates a high regard for safety at all times. Wears Personal Protective Equipment as required by safety regulations.
  • Operates assigned machines to produce quality parts without assistance or supervision.  Pulls orders and performs computer clock-in on each order. 
  • Accesses prints in computer files with specific instructions for each order.  Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.  Verifies conformance of finished part to specifications.
  • Makes sure equipment is in good, safe working operation.  Performs preventive maintenance on equipment. 
  • Communicates pertinent information to coworkers and supervisor.
  •  Continuously checks tooling and machining operations to assure both are performing and producing parts to standard.  Calls set-up operator if change of tooling or set-up modifications are necessary. 
  •  Performs in-process inspections per Quality and Machine Shop procedures. 
  •  Completes shop order paperwork, quality inspection documentation, and Time and Labor card.
  •  Documents Preventative Maintenance checks.
  •  Enters production and disposition of scrap into computer system.
  •  Completes and records inspections on the Patrol Inspection Log following tooling and set-up change.
  • Works on cost savings projects and Six Sigma projects and provides support for other team meetings and projects.
  •  Attends team meetings.  Utilizes lean tools:  5S, visual factory concepts in maintaining order and cleanliness.
  • Utilize lean tools and techniques such as 6S and visual factory concepts in maintaining order and cleanliness. 
  • Perform additional tasks to support production as needed or directed by supervisor or management.

Candidates should have an exemplary work ethic and meet these minimum requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Machining Knowledge - 2 or more years of related work experience.
  • Preferred: Associates Degree in Technical Studies.
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs on a regular basis
  • Basic computer skills.
