Barrie School is seeking a Maintenance Officer to report directly to the Director of Facilities. The role of the Maintenance Officer is to assist the Director of Facilities and maintenance staff in managing the operation of its 45-acre campus and off-campus houses. Under limited supervision, performs various skilled and unskilled maintenance and repair tasks. He/She must be able to work collaboratively with all school constituents and proficiency with use of technology is required.
Essential Functions: Essential functions may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Employees may be assigned duties which are not listed below. The job description does not constitute an employment agreement and is subject to change at any time by the employer. Essential duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
· Perform skilled special project work including plumbing, electrical, drywall, roofing, construction, and HVAC system troubleshooting.
· Maintain and repair electrical, plumbing, irrigation systems, and equipment.
· Maintain a variety of work records including inventories of materials and supplies.
· May serve on-call Standby for after hours and emergency situations.
· Perform general maintenance and repair tasks in a variety of areas and as assigned by the Director of Facilities and in accordance with all applicable codes and regulations.
· Perform regular inspections of equipment and systems, reporting any abnormalities and hazards immediately.
· Respond to emergency situations and perform necessary repairs.
· Use the work order ticket system, making sure that work orders have been written and approved before performing tasks, except in emergency situations.
· Operate and maintain in a safe and operational condition all tools and equipment necessary to carry out job functions and responsibilities.
· Remove snow and ice by shoveling, plowing, and/or sanding walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps for school and some off campus properties.
· Display a cooperative and pleasant attitude at all times, particularly when in the presence of staff, students, and school visitors.
· Display ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agencies associated with the school.
· Daily and special event traffic duty
· Drive Shuttle to and from Glenmont Metro and Poplar Run neighborhood- Morning and Afternoon
· Set up/break down for school, camp, institute events
· Assist with space turnaround from School to Camp and Institute for the summer, and back to School in August.
