The school currently serves nearly 400 students in two divisions: Barrie Lower School (12-months to 5th grade) and Barrie Middle & Upper School (6th to 12th grade). Position and qualifications

Barrie Middle & Upper School (grades 6-12) is seeking a Middle & Upper School Math Teacher for the 2022-2023 academic year. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of teaching experience and a passion for inquiry based education and project-based learning.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
At least two years teaching experience in independent or public schools.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated commitment to antiracist teaching practices, building inclusive community, and personal growth and awareness

Responsibilities

Teach a total of four sections of 6th grade math, 7th grade math, and Algebra I
Advise a group of six to 10 middle or upper school students
Attend weekly faculty meetings
Work with the Learning Specialist to ensure all students’ needs are being met
Lead proactive, transparent communications with families to support students
Work with the Dean of Studies on appropriate math placements for students
Collaborate with academic leaders and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team to foster inclusivity and belonging in the classroom and community at large
Run or co-chaperone an immersive Extended Study Week (ESW) program each year
Perform supervisory and substitute duties as needed in the middle and upper school
Fully participate in the life of middle and upper school
