About Barrie School
Established in 1932, Barrie School cultivates intrinsic motivation in students through a progressive and collaborative approach to education. The school currently serves nearly 400 students in two divisions: Barrie Lower School (12-months to 5th grade) and Barrie Middle & Upper School (6th to 12th grade). The school is also the home to the Institute for Advanced Montessori Studies, a nationally recognized training institute for teachers throughout the region, and Barrie Camp, a day program that serves more than 500 families each summer.

Position and qualifications
Barrie Middle and Upper School (grades 6-12) is seeking a half-time Humanities teacher for the 2022-2023 academic year to teach an interdisciplinary 12th grade Humanities course. Humanities courses at Barrie incorporate English language arts, literature, history, religion, economics, and philosophy, among other disciplines. The ideal candidate will have a background in one or multiple of those disciplines, a demonstrated commitment to antiracist teaching practices and building inclusive community, and an interest in experiential, hands-on education. A commitment to bringing out the best in each student and a dedication to lifelong learning and professional development is also essential.
