Description:
The Human Resources Assistant supports with all administrative functional aspects of the Human Resources Department for the House of Ruth Maryland with a focus on confidentiality, accuracy and customer service, this position provides support to allow efficient Human Resources operations. Responsibilities include HRIS entry, filing, recruitment coordination, on-boarding new hire(s) and various supportive projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provides administrative support to the Human Resource’s Department through accurate and complete data entry, efficient filing, file management and organization
- Coordinates the recruitment effort for all positions and forwards candidates to hiring managers/teams.
- Assist in the maintenance of Human Resources Information System database, files and general human resources information. May design queries and generate reports from database including those needed for legal and governmental compliance.
- Acts as a contact for all employment inquiries and employee relation issues; seeks assistance when needed to interpret policies and procedures when addressing employee questions. Notes all issues and maintains appropriate records for employee personnel files.
- Makes photocopies, files, faxes as needed in support of HR activities
- Maintain files and program records in both electronic and paper formats
- Assist with administrative duties in hiring and employee exiting process
- Under supervision, produces and maintains reports or simple supporting schedules as required using MS Word or EXCEL formats
- Reproduces, creates, revises, and as necessary, distributes program forms
- Maintain Active and Terminated employee’s I-9s
- Coordinate employee engagement activities within the agency
Skills:
Experience/Requirements:
· BA/BS degree or 1-year experience in human resources or related business field required; experience administering employee benefit plans preferred;
· Strong organizational and problem solving skills.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail; computer literate (MS Word, Excel, internet, e-mail and HRIS software).
· Must have knowledge of modern business practices, office procedures and practices including business correspondence; organization, functions and programs of the Agency.
· Ability to work independently with general direction from Director of Human Resources
· Exhibits discretion and upholds confidentiality.
· Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
· Ability to understand intimate partner violence and how it affects staff, clients and employers.
· Ability to pass a criminal background check.
