The company was formed in 2006 with the merger of Harris Calorific, Inc., a manufacturer of gas welding and cutting equipment and gas regulation and distribution systems since 1905 , and the J.W. Harris Co., a manufacturer of brazing and soldering alloys and welding consumables founded in 1914.

The Harris Products Group currently operates manufacturing facilities in Mason, Ohio, USA; Gainesville, Georgia, USA; Dzierzonow, Poland; and Maua, São Paulo, Brazil. Each is ISO 9001 certified for quality management systems.

Demonstrating a commitment to stewardship of the global environment, these facilities are also ISO 14001 certified for environmental management systems.

PRODUCTION LEAD – 1st Shift

Position overview:

  • Run equipment up to 50% of time or as needed using appropriate measurement equipment to confirm product characteristics and modify, audit and maintain work instructions.

  • Track daily time of production personnel and maintain training levels.

  • Coach and develop team members, support employees to resolve issues, and participate in employee evaluations and interviews.

  • Assign resources to meet scheduled production requirements, ensure employees are fulfilling needs of department and are held accountable for their actions.

  • Know, understand, and be able to effectively utilize the various tools of Lean manufacturing to support and lead the continuous improvement efforts including 5S audits.

  • Support and enforce all company policies and procedures and perform all responsibilities in a consistent, reliable, and professional manner.

  • Set a positive example for all employees, encourage teamwork, and provide an environment which fosters positive morale amongst employees and teams.

  • Administrative tasks such as assisting with daily data entry of production reports, documenting and reporting all accidents, incidents and near misses, and correcting discrepancies in 5S and EHS audits.

Qualified candidates should demonstrate an exemplary work ethic and possess:

  • A High School Diploma or GED plus a minimum of one year related experience and/or training.

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and ability to perform the above responsibilities.

  • Literate in Microsoft Office- Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Prefer experience with SAP, Centra/Citrix database, experience with lean tools, and experience operating material handling equipment.

  • Reliable transportation and strong attendance record with flexibility to work overtime if needed.

  • Ability to pass background check, drug screen and physical.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Work demands occasional strenuous effort.  For example, handling of moderately heavy boxes, tools, equipment or materials; walking/climbing or sitting/standing in a fixed position for extended periods of time; working around moving parts/machines; working with irritant chemicals, etc. Employee is required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, coats, boots, gloves, or shields; may require working in adverse weather conditions.
