The Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Weinberg Child Development Center. The Director ensures that the program is in compliance with licensing regulations, staff is following established procedures and protocols, and the environment is inviting and safe for children.
Primary Responsibilities:

Responsible for the day-to-day operation and management of Child Development Program, including child care services, the developmental preschool and the afterschool program.

Recruits, trains, provides support and supervision to staff, interns, and volunteers working in the Child Development Center.

Assists teachers in the development and implementation of developmentally appropriate, culturally sensitive, trauma-informed curriculum.

Ensures indoor/outdoor program environments meet standards for safety, cleanliness, and infection control. Identifies need for improvement and takes action to resolve.

Manages child development and educational materials and resources.

Effectively mediates disputes between children, staff, mothers and other caregivers.

Assesses and evaluates children’s development using approved screening tools and maintains records charting progress.

Works cooperatively with Therapists, Service Coordinators, health care providers, and Shelter staff.

Participates in and contributes to weekly Case Review meetings by professional presentation of relevant observations of child behavior and family dynamics.

Helps plan, monitor, and supervises, special programs and events for children and families including field trips and family engagement activities in the evening and during school breaks.

Works with the Kitchen Manager to ensure healthy snacks and meals are provided for children in child care.

Maintains program and client records, and documentation in accord with state guidelines. Enters data into ETO as required.

Participates in establishing and updating program performance standards and outcome measures. Monitors key performance indicators. Takes action to meet performance targets.

Identifies areas for staff development. Develops and implements plans for in-service training for staff. Assists in training volunteers, students and new staff, including development of training materials.

Develops, updates and maintains written program materials reflecting child care policies and procedures.

Coordinates management of children’s donations (receipt, sorting, storage and distribution).

Participates in and provides relationship-based practice and reflective supervision.

Facilitates a weekly staff meeting and attends and participates in trainings appropriate to this position.

Enroll in the Maryland State Child Care Credentialing Program, complete 12 hours of continuing education a year following the state guidelines and maintain CPR/First Aid certification.
