RESPONSIBILITIES
Whole School Responsibilities
· Proactively identify and address any social emotional concerns among toddler, elementary, middle, and high school students.
· Facilitate difficult conversations and engage in conflict resolution with students and adults.
· One-on-one counseling with students.
· Ongoing parent communication and engagement regarding student needs.
· Provide leadership in crisis management.
· Translate psycho educational evaluations for teachers.
· Mentor a counseling intern.
· Understand testing and accommodation plans to support students around social-emotional concerns.
· Liaise with the Admissions Office about social and emotional concerns of applicants.
· Play an active role on the Student Support Services Team, managing the student services review process, creating action plans, and following up with teachers and families as required.
Barrie Montessori (students in grades 18 months-grade 5)
· Lead planning for two parent education events.
· Perform and document regular classroom observations, offer feedback/strategies, meeting individually with staff members and/or parents as needed.
· Meet bi-weekly with Barrie Montessori Learning Specialist to review social emotional concerns and plan student support.
· Attend monthly Montessori Support Team Meetings Specialists and Program Level meetings as requested.
· Present detailed SEL Curriculum for LE, UE, and Montessori staff.
· Create and manage communications related to social-emotional and diversity issues with parents, staff and the greater community.
· Provide group counseling support based upon student needs.
Barrie Prep
· Meet bi-weekly with Barrie Prep Dean of Students to review social emotional concerns and plan student support.
· Plan two parent education events, one for middle school and one for upper school, called “Conversations that Count.”
· Work collaboratively with Prep Learning Specialist.
· Consult with teachers and provide interventions for students based on social emotional needs.
· Consult with outside providers as needed to support student success at school.
· Provide families with resources and referrals for appropriate outside support.

Candidates must clearly articulate their years of counseling experience on their resume, submit a cover letter expressing their interest in the position, and complete a statement of counseling philosophy.
