PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR | 3rd Shift

The Harris Products Group, a Lincoln Electric company headquartered in Mason, Ohio, is the global leader in the design and manufacture of gas welding and cutting equipment, industrial and specialty gas regulation equipment, gas distribution systems, brazing and soldering alloys and welding consumables.

 

Position overview:

The position of Production Supervisor I is considered a direct successor to the Production Supervisor II position.  In this role, the future manufacturing leaders will hone their skills in progressing responsibilities to eventually supervise all resources (people, machines, materials, and processes) in an assigned area.  As a leader and with a high regard for safety at all times, you will take on direct management of individuals and assume shared ownership for other areas of responsibility to meet customer quality production requirements.  You will lead efforts of hiring and terminating employees, completing production work schedules, training, coaching, conducting performance evaluations, and rewarding and counseling employees in accordance with policies and applicable laws.

Candidates must possess an exemplary work ethic and have:

·      A high school diploma or GED and a minimum of three years’ experience as a manufacturing supervisor or lead.

·      Solid understanding of manufacturing processes.

·      Proficiency with MS Office, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  

·      Attention to exercising strict confidentiality in regard to personnel matters while assisting and supporting employees with work-related issues.

·      Prefer Six Sigma Green Belt Certification, experience with Lean tools and Lean Manufacturing, and proficiency with SAP ERP system.

 

Major responsibilities:

·         Monitor weekly production schedules and assign resources to meet production requirements.

·         Know, understand, and effectively utilize the various tools of Lean Manufacturing to support and lead continuous improvement efforts.

·         Coach and develop team members and lead weekly production meetings to discuss metrics, targets, and performance reports.

·         Review, analyze, and correct inventory and Kanban levels to ensure accuracy.

·         Ensure all equipment in respective departments is maintained to appropriate standards.

·         Support and enforce company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.

·         Use lean tools: 5S and visual factory concepts in maintaining order and cleanliness.

·         Track daily time of production personnel and maintain training levels for all subordinates.

·         Lead cross-functional teams to facilitate optimal departmental performance and analyze opportunities and implement solutions to enhance processes.

·         Ensure successful completion of assigned plant projects on time and within budget.
