QUALITY MANAGER

The Harris Products Group | Mason, OH

Position overview:

In this role, you will lead the Quality team (6+) in developing specifications and process improvements as well as auditing the current processes in manufacturing with safety as an overarching priority.  You will oversee implementation and maintenance of all aspects of the Quality systems, including Lean Six Sigma program, ISO9001 and ISO17025 systems, supplier audits, staffing, and training.  In addition to technical competence in automotive quality standards and continuous improvement, you must have the leadership skills to take ownership of projects and problem resolution.  You must be able to work effectively with multiple departments in the company and be a self-directed, innovative leader who can handle multiple priorities.  You must have the ability and desire to lead, coach, develop and manage to build employee engagement and drive performance and results.

Candidates must be self-directed, innovative leaders who drive a total quality culture and possess:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, Material Science, Business, or related field; or Master’s/MBA degree.

·         A minimum of 5 years’ experience with Quality Management Systems, including AIAG (Automotive Industry Action Group) standards such as FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis), PPAP (Production Parts Approved Process), etc.

·         Solid problem solving and project management skills with ability to simultaneously and timely execute multiple assignments of varying scope to ensure smooth work flow.

·         High level of computer literacy and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) experience (BOMs, Routers, Scheduling, etc.).

·         Experience implementing cellular manufacturing and Lean tool use, selection, and application in a manufacturing environment.

·         Strong ability to design and execute DOE (Design of Experiments) and Measurement Analysis.

·         Strength in relating and communicating with all levels of personnel with ability to exercise strict confidentiality concerning personnel matters.

·         Prefer: Master’s degree or MBA; Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification; experience leading process improvement in a metals casting and fabrication environment; SAP ERP experience; and strong knowledge of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning).  

 

Major responsibilities include:

·         Maintain working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure safety of self and others.

·         Lead, coach, develop and manage to build employee engagement and drive results. 

·         Direct department activities to modify existing designs, improve production techniques, develop testing procedures and design new products.

·         Oversee the Quality Management System, Lean program, and ISO.

·         Conduct management meetings to establish, delineate, and review program policies; coordinate operations between departments; establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining objectives; and to implement and communicate goals that support the annual business plan.

·         Initiate requests for and follow up on corrective and preventative action and the proper handling of internal and external non-conformities.

·         Research and write technical data for use in manuals, procedures, specifications and capital requests.

·         Lead improvement teams using DMAIC and Kaizen to identify and eliminate root cause of production process issues.
