MACHINIST- 1st Shift

Position Overview:

·         Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished parts, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.

·         Correctly completes work orders and time sheets.

·         Sets up and operates all Machine Tool equipment without assistance or supervision and operates material handling equipment when needed.

·         Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.

·         Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut.

·         Participates in safety trainings and demonstrates a high regard for safety at all times.

·         Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining; makes adjustments to controls or control media as required.

·         Develops specifications from general descriptions and draws sketch of part or product for fabrication.

·         Confers with engineers, production personnel, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.

·         Works on cost saving and Six Sigma projects while providing support for other meetings and projects.

·         Ability to communicate effectively with lead supervisor and team.

·         Assists in maintaining steel inventory and supplies.

Candidates should have an exemplary work ethic and meet these minimum requirements:

·         High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) and minimum of three years’ related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience; prefer Associate’s degree in technical studies. 

·         Experience setting up and operating manual lathes, surface grinders, manual milling machines and boring mill; prefer experience setting up and operating CNC milling machine.

·         Reliable transportation and strong attendance record with flexibility to work overtime if needed.

·         Ability to pass background check, drug screen and physical.

·         Must be computer literate.

·         Must be at least 18 years of age and eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
