QUALITY ENGINEER

Position overview:

The Harris Products Group, a Lincoln Electric company, is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our quality department in Mason, OH.  In this position, you will work cross-functionally and with customers and suppliers to achieve a Total Quality culture throughout the organization.  You will design, install, and evaluate quality control systems, procedures, and statistical techniques as well as visit with customers and suppliers to validate and promote our quality initiatives and ensure compliance. Additionally, you will collect and analyze supplier, customer, and process data using the Six Sigma methods, ensure conformity and recommend corrective actions. You’ll work closely with our manufacturing team to provide leadership and support, analyze data and recommend engineering changes to improve quality while ensuring conformance to ISO and industry standards.

Qualified candidates must be goal-oriented team players and possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Engineering, or Quality discipline and a minimum of 3 years' experience in a quality role.

  • Experience with introducing and implementing Lean tool use, selection, and applications in a manufacturing environment.

  • Excellent computer skills, including strong proficiency with MS Office programs.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with ability to work cross-functionally and present information to all levels of personnel.

  • Project management skills with ability to simultaneously and timely execute multiple assignments of varying scope to ensure smooth work flow.

  • Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedures with ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and technical specifications.

  • Practical problem solving ability and experience dealing with multiple variables where limited standardization exists.

  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills, including ability to conduct DOE, Measurement System Analysis and FMEA’s.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Quality experience in a primary metals manufacturing environment and Lean organization.

  • Lean/Six Sigma certification and experience.

  • Experience with Quality tools and Six Sigma statistical analysis, ISO 9001 & 14001, Mil Specs, etc.

  • Knowledge of SAP.
