ASSISTANT BUYER

Position overview:
The Assistant Buyer will assist the Senior Buyer(s) in procurement and planning of finished goods and raw materials, oversee minor product families within those areas with support of the Senior Buyer(s), create purchase orders, plan and track deliveries, maintain effective inventory levels, provide support for the development and implementation of commodity strategies, generate month-end reporting, and develop a cross-functional understanding of packaging and MRO procurement.

Qualified candidates are customer-focused and have:
-
Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related field; or Associate’s degree with a minimum of 3 years’ related experience and/or training offering transferrable skills; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Working knowledge of APICS practices; APICS Certification (CPIM and/or CSCP) preferred.

Strong technical skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and experience with SAP.

Exceptional organization skills with demonstrated success managing several projects simultaneously.

Flexibility to support cross-functional efforts and coverage as necessary.

Ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external customers, suppliers, and colleagues.

An analytical and proactive, hands-on approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.

A comprehensive knowledge of procurement processes including supplier development and performance management, analyzing and negotiating quotes, preparing Request for Quotes, Kanban systems and Vendor Managed Inventory Programs (VMI), Cost Control Management, MRP Demand and Supply, lead times, safety stock and min/max quantities.

Prefer ability to read and understand blueprints/drawings.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to represent HPG in a professional manner.

Proven ability to identify and effectively negotiate and meet technical specifications/customer requirements.
