Description:

Position Title:  Engineer, Level 1

Manager:    Engineering Manager

Manager Once Removed (MOR): President

Important Working Relationships:  President, Sales Manager, General Shop Foreman, Quality Assurance, Production Control, KVI Employees, Customers, Vendors

Primary Responsibilities:  

Responsible for processing engineering plans (aka E2 Estimate) consisting of bills of material, manufacturing routing, subcontract services; solid modeling, documenting Process Drawings. Executes process plan development at the direction of higher level manufacturing engineers through the extensive use of manufacturing software systems. Supports production planning working with Production Control and General Shop Foreman.

Essential Duties: 

1.      I am paid to Think!

2.      Uses ERP software to  document manufacturing plans including process flow, outside services and material requirements, estimate cycle times via Cost Estimate/Quote, similar parts, etc.

3.      Reviews Customer Order for compliance to quote and addresses deviations with manager.

4.      Uses solid modelling software to produce 2 and 3D drawings of components  and parts as they move through the manufacturing cycle

5.      Uses "ballooning" software to identify and detail inspection features including critical dimensions.

6.      Works with Quality Assurance to develop inspection planning for orders, gaging, measuring methods etc.

7.      Uses Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat products for daily reporting and planning.

8.      Purchases raw material, cutting tools and shop supplies as per KVI purchasing guidelines.

9.      Works with Production Control to release jobs to Manufacturing as needed.(I.e. ensure all CNC programs, tools and inspection equipment is complete and available before set up.)

  1. "Closes" jobs at end of cycle updating engineering data as required by performing a technical review of completed orders and updates E2 and engineering documentation.
  2. Schedules and executes engineering review meetings of new customer requirements.
  3. Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner within company rules and regulations.

 

Secondary Duties: 

1.      Supports IT and Facilities for in-house support.

2.      Supports Order Entry to process new customer orders.

3.      Works with other engineering staff as needed

4.      Works with Sales to support KVI business development

5.      Works with KVI Management to support workforce development initiatives.

6.      Oversees and maintains necessary KVI databases and records as needed.

Physical Demands: 

Ability to sit at computer workstation for extended period

Skills:

Engineering degree (4 year) or equivalent experience in CNC machining. Superior computer literacy and demonstrable mastery of SolidWorks, MS Office and other relevant programs. Thorough comprehension of MS Windows operating system.

 

Must have keen attention to detail. Balances thoroughness and absence of errors with ability to execute in a timely manner (Efficiency & Effectiveness).
