Description:
This is a full time position during Barrie Camp from June 13 to August 11. Some before or after opportunities are available.

The Certified Swimming Pool Operator is expected to maintain and operate Barrie's outdoor swimming pool, supervise life guard staff, and perform related work. 

Must be available to respond to emergency situations. Must be able to supervise, educate and evaluate lifeguard staff.

GENERAL DUTIES

  • Maintenance/operation - Typical duties: operates, maintains, and cleans pool related equipment. Insures non-mechanical pool equipment meets code specifications; coordinates walk-through inspections of pool facilities and takes necessary corrective action; monitors building operations and insures sanitation codes are met; stores toxic chemicals; sanitizes swim decks and washes pool decks. Weekly Friday afternoon pool deck cleaning is required.
  • Safety -Typical duties: submits water samples for health department testing; tests and maintains pool chemical levels; tests and services safety equipment; administers first aid, CPR and automated external defibrillation (AED) when necessary; complies with health and safety codes. Responsible for safety and protection of each camper and staff at the pool.
  • Administrative - Typical duties: Creates and maintains schedules for lifeguarding staff. Supervise, educate and evaluate life guard staff throughout the summer. Update camper swim levels throughout the summer.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Good knowledge of life, safety, and health codes for public swimming pools.
  • Good knowledge of safety procedures for storing, handling, and using toxic chemicals.
  • Must possess adequate vision to distinguish colors and shades of color.
  • Must have lifeguard certification as well as Certified Swimming Pool Operator license. This can be acquired post job offer with minimum of 1,040 hours of prior life-guarding experience.
  • Water Safety Instructor certification not necessary.
