Urban Tech Jobs Program (UTJP) provides adults 18
and older who are currently unemployed and have a high school diploma or
GED with access to subsidized work experience opportunities. These
opportunities include job placement in information technology, case management
and career counseling, and enrollment assistance in short term IT certification
programs. Participants will be given the opportunity to transform their lives
and roles in society by obtaining a vocational credential in the information
technology industry.
This position is responsible for recruiting participants, including
America Job Centers one day per week; conduct quick-screen for eligibility;
conducting intake; assessing participants, including assessing for symptoms
prevalent in long term unemployment; help participants create personal
resiliency plan; act as case manager for delivery of supportive services.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Recruit participants to enroll in UTJP.
2. Establish participant relationships to facilitate coaching as they prepare for successful employment.
3. Conduct participant eligibility screening and assessments to identify barriers, including symptoms prevalent to long term unemployment.
4. Coach participant in gaining knowledge of skills and talents and create a personal resiliency plan.
5. Plan and organize job search skills workshops including interviewing, resume preparation, and other skills
6. Ensure participants are prepared before going to job interviews, and conduct follow-up assessments.
7. Connect participants with viable job opportunities.
8. Act as a case manager for delivery of supportive services and referrals to other needed services, internally and externally.
9. Represent the organization at job fairs, community events, and employer forums.
10. Assist UTJP staff members and participants to identify and schedule career-related guest speakers, site visits, job shadow experiences, and informational interviews.
11. Maintain most up-to-date information on participants necessary for all databases and department records.
