Job Description

 

Job Title:            Janitor

Department:      Maintenance

Reports To:       Maintenance Supervisor

FLSA Status:     Non-Exempt

 

 Summary of Position

Janitors will maintain cleanliness of the entire building and grounds. This position requires a high regard for safety at all times in performing any tasks associated with working for Harris Products Group.

 

Key Deliverables

Works safely and supports safety within their team across the organization. Completes janitorial duties per assigned schedule and participates in team meetings.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Include the following and other duties maybe assigned.

 

Works safely and supports safety within their team and across the organization

 

Facility Cleaning – 90%

·         Cleans offices, rooms, hallways, lobby, restrooms, stairways, and locker rooms.

·         Empties all trash and transports it to the compactor.

·         Washes walls, ceilings, doors, and woodwork.

·         Washes windows and sills.

·         Dusts furniture and equipment.

·         Polishes metalwork.

·         Replenishes all cleaning and bathroom supplies.

·         Cleans, strips, and waxes floors.

·         Operates floor cleaning machine.

·         Picks up refuge from plant grounds.

·         Shovels snow and salts walkways.

·         Follows all written and verbal cleaning procedures.

·         Operates material handling equipment, scissor lift and manipulating man lift when needed

·         Communicates pertinent information to supervisor.

·         Correctly fills our work orders and time sheets

 

Kanban – Cleaning Supplies – 5%

·         Assist in maintaining supplies

 

Safety Training, Team Meetings & Lean concepts – 5%

·         Participates in safety training and demonstrates a high regard for safety at all times

·         Attends team meetings

·         Utilizes lean tools: 5s, visual factory concepts in maintaining order and cleanliness

 

 

Education and/or Experience

 

Required -

 

·         High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

 

Preferred-

 

One to two years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Qualities and Skills

Initiative, flexibility, responsibility & independence, able to multi task, goal-oriented, teamwork, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, respectful of others, 

 Language Skills:

·         Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 

·         Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers.

 Mathematical Skills:

·         Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

·         Calculate proportions/percentages. 

Reasoning Ability:

·         Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. 

·         Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
